Atletico struggles hand Arsenal key boost in Thomas Partey transfer chase
Atletico Madrid cannot afford to hand Thomas Partey a new contract this summer, coming as a major boost to potential suitors Arsenal. The Gunners have reportedly identified Partey, 27, as a top transfer target in the summer window. It is believed they have already seen a player-plus-cash deal rejected by Atletico, with Mikel Arteta prepared to let outcast Matteo Guendouzi head in the opposite direction. The Spanish outfit are instead demanding that Partey’s £44million release clause is met, but Arsenal are lacking the funds to pay it outright.
