Arsenal secure Thomas Partey transfer after meeting £45m Atletico Madrid clause
Arsenal have signed Atletico Madrid midfielder in the closing stages of the summer transfer window. The Gunners waited until the 11th hour to spring into action, informing the La Liga outfit of their interest earlier in the day. Partey has been a long-term target for Arsenal but his 50m (£45m) release clause was deemed to hefty in recent months. Mikel Arteta's side wanted to drive the Ghanian's price tag down but were met with consistent resistance from Atletico. Arsenal changed their stance, coughed up the required cash and have landed the 27-year-old right before the summer transfer window slammed shut.
