Jenkinson pens 5-year Arsenal deal ahead of Hammers loan
According to the Mirror, Carl Jenkinson has signed a new 5-year contract at Arsenal ahead of his second successive season on loan at West Ham. The right-back had one year left on his current deal at the Emirates – signed in 2012 – but impressed Arsene Wenger with his perfomances at Upton Park last season. The decision to offer the 23-year-old a new contract both safeguards a potential future transfer fee and opens the door for a continuation of his Gunners career. Jenkinson made 29 Premier League appearances for the Hammers last season as he consolidated his Premier League credentials and had been courted by both Sunderland and Southampton this summer.
