Southampton fail in bid to re-sign Arsenal star
Southampton were hoping to bring Arsenal defender Calum Chambers back to St Mary's this season, but have seen their loan bid rejected by Arsene Wenger, according to the Mirror. The England international only joined the club last season for £16m, and played a surprisingly large part in our campaign. He was deployed largely as a right-back, but arguably enjoyed most success at centre-back. And that is clearly where Wenger sees the 20-year-old in the future, as he has been utilised in a more central role in pre-season.
