Defensive duo on the key to Newcastle win
Not losing focus and the benefits of squad rotation were major factors in Arsenal's tight win over Newcastle, according to centre-back pairing Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny. Koscielny's close-range strike on 72 minutes was enough for the Gunners to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to two points, but it was far from a vintage performance.
