Alex Iwobi: I nearly got released by Arsenal
GETTY RELEASE DRAMA: Alex Iwobi could have been let go by Arsenal at the age of 13 The 20-year-old progressed through the Gunners' academy to make a huge impact when he broke into Arsene Wenger's first team towards the end of last season, scoring twice in 13 league appearances. But becoming an Arsenal star was something Iwobi, who joined the club at the age of eight, could only dream about as a youngster because the club considered letting him go after five years in their academy.
